Variations on a Sweet Baby Photo Book

By Becky Higgins

You probably have so many photos of your baby’s first year (or even first few months) of life that you’re overwhelmed by the task of compiling those precious memories into a baby book. A traditional month-by-month approach is good, but there are many other milestones and moments to capture and record for your baby. The Sweet Baby Photo Book is an excellent solution as it allows you to chronologically document your baby’s first months as well as add in important information like a family tree, details about your immediate family, pregnancy, and more. The best part is, for busy moms it simplifies the process of creating a memory book and also allows you to create one special book you can share with grandparents, godparents, aunts and uncles, and any others who love and cherish your sweet baby.

Try these helpful tips for getting started and making the most of your Sweet Baby Photo Book:

  • Gather your favorite photos of baby into one folder or categorized folders where they’re easily accessible. Remember to look for photos that document milestones, as well as those that represent baby’s personality, day-to-day activities, and family life.
  • Also gather photos of people who play a big part in your baby’s life, namely your immediate and extended family, or close friends, and especially photos of them with Baby.
  • Remember to highlight the tiny details like little feet and hands, first teeth, first outfit, favorite stuffed animal, etc. Use the easy cropping feature to hone in on these details in the photos you have.
  • Use the add-in pages to document special occasions that are not already included in this book’s template, such as baptism, christening, blessing, bris, etc.

Ideas for adapting the Sweet Baby Photo Book:

  • Vary the amount of time covered in the book. Instead of baby’s first year, try creating a smaller book based on Baby’s first month of life. With a new baby, there are plenty of moments to cover even in just one month! Or, you could expand the book even more by using the cute yet generic add-on pages to cover baby’s first 2 years.
  • If you’ve adopted a baby, simply adapt the “Expecting You” page and any others to fit your situation. You could include photos of your family or pets that show what your family was like before Baby’s arrival, rather than pregnancy photos.
  • Use the month page add-ins as well as a generic page add-in or two to include even more photos for each month of Baby’s first year. You can include up to 100 pages in your book.
  • This would make a great gift for Baby and parents on Baby’s 1st birthday. Make a list of the types of photos you need and ask the parents to put them on a disc for you. You can still keep the fact that you’re making them a book a surprise!
