Creating a Successful A Trip to Remember Book

by Brian Tippetts

A little planning ahead of time can pay off in a big way when it comes to creating a photo book with all of the highlights of your vacation. Once you reach your destination, sit back and relax—few things will ruin a vacation faster than being stressed out wondering if you’ve remembered to capture everything. Below are a few hints to ensure that the photos you take will remind you of those carefree hours.

Before You Go

Take Care

Expensive camera and beach vacations are a dangerous combination. Sand and water wreak havoc on the delicate workings of the camera. Consider purchasing a disposable camera or a low-priced point and shoot digital camera for use in these situations.

Pack an Extra

Don’t worry about whether you have enough room on your memory card to capture everything. (One slip and you could delete your entire trip instead of that one photo of the roof of the car you meant to erase.) Pack an extra memory card and save the deleting until you are back home.

Decide What You Want to Capture

What is the purpose of your vacation? Sightseeing, relaxation, time with friends or family? Once you determine the purpose of your trip, you’ll have a good idea about what you’ll want to capture through the lens.

Keep a Travel Journal

Jot down some of your most memorable moments and some of your feelings as you are traveling. It will make completing the A Trip to Remember book a lot easier.

When You Get Home

Keep Them Safe

Upload your photos to your Shutterfly account so that you can create a great photobook, but also so you have a back up in case something happens.

By Day or By Memory

Decide how you want to arrange your photo book. Chronologically, by activity, or your favorite memories, the A Trip to Remember photo book allows you to decide how you will best remember your vacation.

Include Yourself

Don’t forget to make sure that there are a few photos of you in your photo book. You may have spent most of the time behind the camera, but you’ll want to make sure that everyone knows that you were on the vacation too!

Include Other Perspectives

Invite other people who were on your vacation with you to help complete your photo book by contributing photos that they took or their own memories of the trip.

Think about these ideas and come up with some of your own. By taking a few minutes to plan your photos before the vacation, you’re sure to come home with wonderful memories.
